German Olympic qualifications in artistic gymnastics 1935/36
The Olympic elimination in artistic gymnastics took place from spring 1935 to summer 1936. It was the elimination for the determination of the German Olympic gymnastics team for the 1936 Olympic Games.
procedure
First of all, in the spring of 1935, the respective core Olympic team of the Gau was determined in each German sports area.
The best gymnasts in these individual districts were then put together in so-called Gau groups in autumn 1935 in order to determine the best gymnasts.
After the German championships in Frankfurt am Main in 1935, about 30 of the original 300 gymnasts were left.
These were further checked and trained in the spring of 1936.
On July 4th and 5th, the final round took place in Hamburg's Hanseatic Hall, after which the following gymnasts were set up for the Olympic Games: Alfred Schwarzmann , Franz Beckert , Matthias Volz , Walter Steffens , Konrad Frey , Ernst Winter , Innozenz Stangl , Willi Barn . Substitutes: Gustav Schmelcher and Heinz Sandrock .
