The Deutsche Reichs-Zeitung appeared in the successor to the Deutsche National-Zeitung from Braunschweig and Hanover from July 1, 1848 to August 2, 1866 in Braunschweig and was edited and published by Eduard Vieweg .

Karl Andree was an editor. In 1849 the paper, which called itself “ Großdeutsch ”, “Liberal” and later “ Welfisch ”, had 1750 subscribers . The last edition appeared shortly after the outbreak of the German War on August 2, 1866 with the note: "Due to the war and the general political situation."
