German Social-Cultural Society in Breslau

The German Social-Cultural Society in Breslau ( DSKG Breslau for short ) is an organization of the German minority in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship with its headquarters in Wroclaw .

Structures and activities

The DSKG Breslau is responsible for the German minority in the city of Breslau and the surrounding districts and is the largest German society in Lower Silesia. It is a member of the Association of German Social-Cultural Societies in Poland (VdG) . In addition, the DSKG Breslau performs the task of the Lower Silesia District Executive . The organization currently has around 1200 members. The current chairman is Renata Zajączkowska. The DSKG publishes an information magazine called "Lower Silesian Information Sheet" and has a weekly radio program called "Sami swoi - Together" on Radio Wrocław .

The tasks and goals of the company include activities in the cultural and social field, maintaining the German language and culture and the Lower Silesian traditions and history. In order to meet this requirement, a culture committee, a social committee and a committee for child and youth work were formed. The society also offers German lessons and has a library.

history

The DSKG was founded at the time of political change and was officially registered in 1991. Initially based in Waldenburg ( Wałbrzych ), there was a local group for Wroclaw in this context. In March 1990 the first board of the newly founded Wroclaw local group was elected. On September 9, 2012, the DSKG started a radio program entitled “Sami swoi - Together” for the first time.

In 2016 the company was awarded the special prize of the Silesian Culture Prize of Lower Saxony .
