history

The development of the transport science associations in Germany began in Berlin in 1908 when the Scientific Association for Transport (WVV) was founded. The association magazine was the traffic engineering week . After the founding of the Federal Republic of Germany, the German Transport Science Society was founded in Frankfurt am Main in May 1949 . With the establishment of the DVWG, the association's organ, the specialist journal Internationales Verkehrwesen (initially under the title Internationales Archiv für Verkehrwesen ), appeared. Since its foundation, the DVWG has been a decentralized company with a central office and several district associations. In 1990 the association was enlarged accordingly as a result of the accession of the new federal states. At the end of the 1990s, the Bergisch Gladbach office was relocated back to its original home in Berlin. During this time, the DVWG has intensified its efforts to form a "European Platform for Transport Sciences" (2000/2001) together with its European sister companies.
