Thomas Siefer

Thomas Siefer (* 1956 in Hamburg ) is a German railway engineer, university professor and managing director of the Institute for Transport, Railway Construction and Operation at the Technical University of Braunschweig .

Life

Thomas Siefer studied civil engineering at the University of Hanover until 1981 . He passed the second state examination as a building assessor in 1984 at the Deutsche Bundesbahn . As part of a secondment from the Deutsche Bundesbahn to the University of Hanover , he received his doctorate in 1989 at the Institute for Transport, Railway Construction and Operation. Since 1989 he worked in various positions at the Deutsche Bundesbahn and later at DB Netze of the Deutsche Bahn . From 1994 to 1997 he headed in preparation of the EXPO 2000 in Hanover, the department Operational Concept of the Hanover S-Bahn . In 1997 Thomas Siefer was appointed professor at the University of Hanover and has since headed the Institute for Transport, Railway Construction and Operation. In 2003 he was appointed Advisory Professor at Tongji University Shanghai, China. As part of the NTH process, the transport institutes were concentrated in Braunschweig, so that the Institute for Transport, Railway Construction and Operation also moved to the TU Braunschweig. Siefer is Vice President of the German Transport Science Society .

Siefer researches in particular on aspects of railway operations, such as B. Track technology and operational optimization.
