Knut Ringat

Knut Ringat (born February 29, 1960 in Schlema ) is a German traffic engineer .

Since 2008 he has been the managing director of the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund , and since 2009 he has also been an honorary professor at the “Friedrich List” Faculty of Transport Science at the Technical University of Dresden .

Life

Ringat completed training as a train driver and tram driver in Dresden in 1979 and 1980 . From 1980 to 1985 he studied technical traffic cybernetics at the Dresden University of Transport , from which he graduated with a degree in engineering. In 1985 he worked as a personal advisor to the traffic director of the Dresden transport company .

From 1986 to 1994 he worked in various functions in the administration of the city of Dresden. From 1986 to 1988 he was head of the passenger traffic department, 1989 and 1990 head of the passenger traffic department and from 1990 to 1994 head of the city traffic office, which was dissolved when he switched to the transport association.

From May 1994 he was managing director of the Zweckverband Verkehrsverbund Oberelbe (ZVOE). From January 1, 2000, he acted as managing director of Verkehrsverbund Oberelbe GmbH, a 100% subsidiary of the ZVOE.

On May 1st, 2008 he was appointed managing director of the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund (RMV) and has been its spokesman for the management since September 1st, 2009.

Teaching and committee activities

Since 2000, Knut Ringat has held a lectureship for "Liberalization and competition in local public transport from the perspective of the responsible body" at the TU Dresden and in December 2009 he was appointed honorary professor for competition and organizational models in local public transport at the TU Dresden. He also teaches "Public Transport Management" at the TU Darmstadt .

From May 2009 to May 2017, Knut Ringat was President of the German Transport Science Society . Since June 2009 he has been Vice President of the Association of German Transport Companies .

Since 2012 he has been Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board of VDV eTicket Verwaltungsgesellschaft mbH (general partner of VDV eTicket Service ).
