Roquevaire is a French municipality with 9003 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Bouches-du-Rhône in the region of Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur .

geography

The municipality is located east of Marseille between Aubagne, four kilometers away, and Auriol, six kilometers away . Roquevaire is located on the Huveaune River .

history

The town's coat of arms was created in 906. The star in the coat of arms (French "étoile") stands for the Massif de l'Étoile , which begins behind the village, and the Pont de l'Étoile . The rock is related to the name of the place. Roquevaire means something like white-gray rock.
