The VDV eTicket Service GmbH & Co. KG , in which, among others, the Association of German Transport Companies is involved (VDV), operates and coordinates the technical platform for the electronic ticket eTicket Germany in public transport ( public transport ).

background

The limited partnership emerged from the VDV-Kernapplikations GmbH & Co. KG on January 1, 2014. This was founded in 2003 as a development company to develop an e-ticket standard in public transport, the so-called VDV core application .

Holdings

The Association of German Transport Companies is involved in the company through VDV eTicket Verwaltungsgesellschaft mbH as general partner and twelve limited partners: Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (via BVG Beteiligungsholding GmbH & Co.KG), Deutsche Bahn (via DB Vertrieb ), Hamburger Hochbahn , and Cologne transport company , Mainzer Verkehrsgesellschaft , Münchner Verkehrsgesellschaft , Nahverkehrsgesellschaft Baden-Württemberg , Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund , Verkehrsverbund Greater Nuremberg , Verkehrsverbund Oberelbe , Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Ruhr , Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Sieg

Tasks and partners

The company issues the standard for the eTicket Germany in sole responsibility and integrates new technical solutions. She looks after and manages the participating companies and suppliers, draws up organizational rules and monitors them. In addition, the company certifies the components used (contactless chip cards, sales terminals, recording terminals and background system interfaces), for which purpose it has a test laboratory operated by CTC advanced GmbH.

Another area of responsibility is safety management. At the service provider T-Systems , the company has the centrally issued keys and security certificates managed in a trust center , controls the security process and the ASM tool web service (see section "ASM tool for business customers" in the article " VDV core application "), which is available to business customers via the partner IVU Traffic Technologies AG.

The company regulates the internal data exchange between the business customers involved in the eTicket system via the service provider Atos Worldline GmbH. This operates a "central exchange" (ZVM) and thus enables an "interoperable network" (ION) for the eTicket Germany via the Internet.

The VDV eTicket Service will set up a clearing system for eTicket Germany by autumn 2018 . This clearing will provide a cross-regional tariff, product and price determination (product clearing), a claims clearing with regard to mutual financial claims as well as a financial clearing (settlement) for payment settlement for all transport companies and associations. This central service enables transport companies and transport associations to sell electronic tickets for cross-regional journeys. The establishment of the clearing system is financially supported by the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure .

As a central service, the company also puts out chip cards on behalf of transport companies and associations and offers consulting workshops for transport companies and system component manufacturers. The educational offer includes basic and specialist seminars as well as user training.

An advisory working group is to ensure that the processes used remain state-of-the-art. All participating transport associations and companies (VV / VU) can contribute to improvements by submitting so-called change requests (CR). The “Standardization Working Group”, which is staffed by experts from VV / VU, supports and advises on the assessment of this CR. Approval is decided by the participants' assembly, a kind of parliament of all involved VV / VU.

International cooperation

In the international market, the company cooperates with the Calypso Network Association (Belgium), ITSO (Great Britain), the French government organization Agence française pour l'information multimodale et la billettique (AFIMB) and the world association UITP . She is also a founding member of the Smart Ticketing Alliance.
