The company was founded in 1976 by graduates from the Technical University of Berlin as "IVU - Society for Information Processing, Transport Consulting and Applied Business Research" in Berlin. Initially active exclusively in project work for transport companies , IVU expanded software development in the following years and established itself as a supplier for transport and logistics companies with the Microbus system.

IVU went public on July 7, 2000 and has since been listed in the Prime Standard on the regulated market of Deutsche Börse . In the following year IVU acquired TTi Systems AG from Aachen . In February 2019, Daimler Buses acquired a 5.25% stake in IVU AG. This went hand in hand with a strategic partnership between the two companies.

IVU has branches in Aachen, Birmingham, Budapest, Frankfurt am Main, Hanoi, Istanbul, Montreal, New York, Olten, Paris, Rome, Santiago de Chile, Veenendaal and Vienna. IVU's customers include state railways such as Deutsche Bahn , Trenitalia , VIA Rail Canada and SJ as well as public transport companies such as Transdev , De Lijn , AVG and BVG .

Products

The company develops and sells fully integrated software products in the areas of public transport and rail. IVU's product range in the public transport sector is grouped under the product name IVU.suite. The IVU.rail product is based on the IVU.suite, but is aimed specifically at railway companies.

The IVU.suite and IVU.rail products cover the entire operational requirements of rail and bus companies:

  • Offer planning (IVU.timetable and IVU.pool)
  • Resource planning (IVU.run and IVU.duty)
  • Vehicle and personnel dispatching (IVU.vehicle, IVU.crew and IVU.pad)
