German newspaper (1871–1907)

The Deutsche Zeitung was a Viennese daily newspaper with a German national orientation that existed from December 17, 1871 to November 24, 1907 .

The paper was initially founded in competition with the Neue Freie Presse and took a German- liberal standpoint. Among others, Josef Schöffel and Ferdinand Kürnberger , Ludwig Ganghofer (as culture editor) and Hermann Bahr (in the same function and briefly as editor) wrote here. After several changes of ownership, the paper finally represented the anti-Semitic line of Karl Lueger .
