German building catalog

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The German Building Catalog (DBK) is a database and an encyclopedia for product information in the field of architecture and construction. It contains a collection of over 75,000 products from manufacturers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Architects and civil engineers get an overview of all available construction products as well as companies on the market. The catalog provides a database to support the selection of products.

history

The German Building Catalog was first published in 1969. In 1998, the previous print edition received a CD-ROM as an encore. This offered users additional options for product research. From 2001 the German building catalog was also available online, but only as a subdomain of DETAIL. It only got its own domain in May 2007 and since then has only been offered on the Internet by the Institute for International Architecture Documentation GmbH & Co.KG, which also publish Detail (magazine) .

Over the years and with the redesign of the German building catalog from a print edition to an online portal, its content structure has also changed. At the beginning it was divided into 15 and later into 16 chapters, which were based on DIN 276. Today it is divided into a hit list, product presentation and company profile, which is supported by an intelligent search.

content

The German Building Catalog is a free research database with unhindered public access. It is subdivided into a product database with images and a manufacturer database with company contacts. The data are thematically classified into categories. These categories are linked to each other if they complement each other in terms of content.

Users

Users include architects' offices, architecture and civil engineering offices, building planning departments, building construction authorities, building and settlement companies and building construction companies.
