German Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired

The German Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired ( DBSV ) is the self-help association for eye patients, blind and visually impaired people and blind and visually impaired people with other disabilities in Germany. The association sees its core tasks in advising these people and in representing their interests.

The association is based in Berlin . It was founded in 1912 under the name Reichsdeutscher Blindenverband . According to its own information, the association has more than 40,000 members. The DBSV is a member of the European Blind Union and the World Blind Union .

Since 2020, the DBSV, together with the North Rhine-Westphalia Film Foundation , has been awarding the renowned radio play prize for the war blind and has taken on the sponsorship of the Association of War Blind Germany .
