German Aviation Medical Association

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The German Aviation Medical Association e. V. (DFV) is an association of German aviation doctors based in Badbergen .

The association added the German Association of Aeromedical Examiners (GAAME) to its club name in 2009 in order to be more recognizable in the European context. Both terms are protected.

Basic association goals

Aviation doctors examine pilots , cabin crew and members of the air traffic control service - as well as the associated applicants - for their fitness to fly and issue medical certificates . Ensuring the quality of examinations and implementing the most uniform assessment standards possible after the examinations are important goals of the German Aviation Medical Association. The association sees itself as an authority-independent trustee of aviation medicine and offers its expertise to the regulatory authority and the aviation authorities. According to its own presentation, the association pays attention to the actual meaningfulness and feasibility of the official regulations. In conflict cases, the association has repeatedly taken legal action against official regulations and / or supported plaintiffs in courts.

Important activities

The association participates in the consultations of the authorities and the aviation doctors in the AMC and the other investigation bodies. In particular, questions of interpretation and application of aero-medical suitability are on the agenda.

In order to create nationwide uniform assessment bases, the association informs the members about interpretation problems and results of aviation medical problem cases.

The association has positioned itself against the new regulations of the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) expected for 2013 for the medical examinations of air drivers and the associated medical certificates , because it expects serious violations of the medical data protection of the pilots.
