German university building award

The German University Building Award has been awarded since 2011 for architecture and building culture . The prize is awarded every two years by the German University Foundation under the patronage of the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development (BMVBS). With the prize money, which is supported by the Eberhard-Schöck-Stiftung (Baden-Baden), the respective builders and the draftsmen are awarded.

Characteristic and doping

The prize is intended to recognize sustainable construction in university buildings or ensembles with resource-saving and holistic concepts with highly energy-efficient measures. The renovation and modernization of historical buildings is also taken into account. The German University Prize is endowed with 15,000 euros, with up to two further awards of 5,000 euros each, a further 10,000 euros are available. The total prize money is 25,000 euros (as of 2020). The price includes a badge to be affixed for the respective university in the area of ​​the main entrance.
