The German Fan Museum is on subjects specialized Museum of Decorative Arts in Bielefeld in North Rhine-Westphalia . The corresponding foundation was set up in 1994 by Marie-Luise and Günter Barisch. The museum opened in 1995. It is unique of its kind in Germany and one of only three museums of its kind worldwide. It is located in Bielefeld's old town in the street Am Bach .

exhibition

The museum shows a selection of subjects and related accessories from all over the world. The inventory includes around 3000 subjects, the same number of accessories and a specialist library with around 1300 documents on the topic. Of these, around 500 are exhibition catalogs. The oldest subjects date from the 17th century. Special exhibitions take place at regular intervals, for example in 2014 under the theme of souvenirs in a semicircle .
