German climate computing center

The German Climate Computing Center ( DKRZ ) is a central service facility for German climate and earth system research in Hamburg. It operates high-performance computers for applied and basic climate research and their related disciplines. The main task of the DKRZ is to provide computing power, storage capacity and technical support for model and simulation calculations for climate research.

Organizational form

The main shareholders of the Deutsches Klimarechenzentrum GmbH are the Max Planck Society and the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg ( University of Hamburg ). Other shareholders are the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research and the Helmholtz Center Geesthacht . The DKRZ is financially supported by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research .
