Germany is humming!
Germany is humming! is an initiative for the protection of wild and honey bees and biological diversity , especially in urban areas . The initiative is supported by the Foundation for People and the Environment in Berlin .
Since it was founded in 2011, over twenty locally and regionally active initiatives have joined the initiative. Since 2017, the initiative “Bavaria is humming! We do something for bees ”, which will be financed by the Bavarian Nature Conservation Fund until 2020. The aim of the initiative is to inform the population about the importance of pollinator insects for biological diversity and to mobilize their own activities to protect them.
Patroness of Germany is humming! from 2013 to 2017 was Daniela Schadt , the partner of the former Federal President Joachim Gauck .
Awards
The initiative “ Germany - Land of Ideas ” selected Germany hums! to the Excellent Place in the Land of Ideas 2013/14 and the National Winner 2013/14 in the Environment category. In 2013, 2015 and 2017 Germany was humming! awarded as a project of the UN Decade of Biological Diversity . Corinna Hölzer , the initiator of Germany hums !, is the Golden BILD of the 2019 FRAU award winner.
