Figurine of the Golden Image of the Woman

The Golden Picture of the Woman (spelling: GOLDENE BILD der FRAU) is a prize from the magazine Bild der Frau of the Funke media group , with which women are honored and honored for their special social commitment. The prize is awarded once a year by the editorial team to several women and is endowed with 10,000 euros each. So far there have been a total of 66 female and one male award winners.

history

The award has been given since 2006. Editor-in-chief Sandra Immoor describes the basic idea behind it: “If someone achieves great things without making a fuss - then it's usually a woman. If someone is still there for others in the greatest personal need - then it is usually a woman. And if someone risks their heads and necks for their ideals, for humanity and justice - then it is usually a woman too. But almost always only the men are hung with medals and cheered. We want to change that. (...) We will honor the women who make our world a little better every day. "

price

Each winner receives 10,000 euros earmarked for their project. In addition, each award winner receives a gold-colored figurine made of brass-bronze with a granite base. It is 25 centimeters high, weighs 1.35 kilograms and bears a brass plate with the name of the award winner engraved on it.

Special and honorary awards

You're never too old to do voluntary work! This was proven in 2016 by the then 98-year-old Christel Heibutzki, who is involved in the nursing home four times a week. Geriatric nurse Sylke Hoß received the “Special Prize for Civil Courage” in 2017. She had exposed abuses in the nursing home of her former employer. She sat in the audience at the award ceremony and was surprised with the award by a resident of her current employer. In 2018 the special prize was awarded to a man for the first time. Herbert Pinnecke trains women suffering from breast cancer to drive dragon boats.

Award ceremony

The prize is awarded at a festive gala. From 2006 to 2013 the gala took place in Berlin, and since 2014 in Hamburg. In 2013 the gala was broadcast once on TV by ARD . The gala has been moderated by Kai Pflaume since 2006 .

Posters

In the run-up to the gala for the 2013 awards ceremony, posters with portraits of the award winners were posted nationwide. The award-winning women were photographed by photographer Gabriele Oestreich -Trivellini.
