InteGREATer eV is a non-profit association that aims to motivate children and young people with a migration background to pursue an educational career and to inform them and their parents about the various educational opportunities in Germany. The association members, who have experienced the German educational system with their own migration background, report u. a. At both school and extracurricular events from their own experiences and offer students and parents the opportunity to discuss the importance of education on the life of children and young people.
history
The association was founded on March 16, 2010 in Frankfurt by the Marburg medical student Ümmühan Ciftci, the Frankfurt entrepreneur Jochen Sauerborn and other founding members.
The association is a registered association based in Frankfurt. Since 2010 the association has been supported in its efforts by the Hessian Ministry for Social Affairs and Integration . In the summer of 2011, the association set up an educational advisory board with now five members, which advises it on a voluntary basis on content and strategic issues. The association now consists of 49 sponsoring members, five full-time employees and the so-called InteGREATers (over 200 young people aged 18 to 32 with a migration background). The club's own events are now possible in eight federal states: Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Berlin, Bremen, Hamburg, Hesse, Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia.
Club structure
The association can be functionally divided into five organizational units:
- The board of directors
- The educational advisory board
- The sponsors
- The InteGREATer office
- The regional InteGREATer groups
While the educational advisory board and the full-time employees work centrally in Frankfurt and Berlin, the regional groups represent the association in other areas of Germany. The association's board consists of seven people who were unanimously elected for another three years at the 2018 general meeting.
