Tanja Regmann

Tanja Barbara Regmann (* around 1974) is a German animal and nature conservationist. She is co-founder of the Project Blue Sea association .

Career

Tanja Regmann is a social worker (BA) and heads the Erler youth center in Raesfeld . She has been volunteering for animal welfare since the 1990s. At first she helped at the shelter. In 1998, her brother Sascha Regmann had the idea of ​​working to protect the seas. After the disaster of Pallas before the Schleswig-Holstein North Sea coast, in which several tonnes of heavy fuel oil ran into the sea, they were as volunteers on site to capture birds glued on oil and to clean the beach. The following year, an operation in Brittany followed in the oil spill caused by the sunken freighter Erika .

At the beginning both worked together with a large American organization, in 2000 the siblings founded their own association Project Blue Sea e. V. In 2004 Tanja Regmann co-founded and named the alliance “PRO Bird” (Protection and Rehabilitation of Oiled Birds), an amalgamation of several environmental and animal welfare associations. In the absence of conclusive emergency concepts on the part of the federal states, how to deal with oily animals in a complex case of damage, guidelines for the rehabilitation of oily wild animals were developed together with a team of experts. She passes on this expertise at workshops and conferences.
