Deutschordensballei Lamparten

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Deutschordensballei Lamparten was one of four Italian ballei of the Teutonic Order .

history

The branches of the Teutonic Order were referred to as Kommende or Commandery. These branches were grouped in balleien, roughly comparable to religious provinces or administrative districts. At its head was a provincial commander who corresponded to the provincial in other orders .

The Deutschordensballlei Lamparten , which had hardly any entries from Italy and was mainly made up of knights and priests of the German Ballei, was originally under the Grand Master . It was not until the beginning of the 14th century that she was subordinated to the Deutschmeister . Since it was no longer strategically important for the order after the fall of the Holy Land and also played no role economically, it was neglected after the Reformation and finally died out. As early as 1400 the Ballei had only nine members, four of them priests.
