(formerly Developers Diversified Realty Corporation ) is one of the largest owners and developers of over 700 shopping centers in 45 states in the United States, Puerto Rico, Canada and Brazil. The total area is 14.6 million square meters. Founded in 1965, the company is based in Beachwood , Ohio , a suburb of Cleveland . The shares are traded on the New York Stock Exchange .
The major shareholder is Alexander Otto, the managing director of ECE , who increased his stake to 20% in April 2009.
