The Devlet Hava Meydanları İşletmesi (“State Operation for the Airspace”, abbreviation DHMİ) is the Turkish authority that is responsible for the operation of civil airports and airfields as well as for civil air traffic control . DHMİ is the owner of the airports; As the owner, it has partially awarded the operation at the larger airports to private airport operators by means of concessions , but continues to act as the operator of the smaller airports itself. The DHMİ is a so-called “Public Economic Institution ” ( Kamu İktisadi Kuruluşu , KİK) and has a monopoly position.

The DHMİ has existed under different names since May 20, 1933. It is a member of the International Civil Aviation Organization , European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation and Airports Council International .
