Dexter and Piscataquis Railroad

The Dexter and Piscataquis Railroad is a former railway company in Maine ( United States ). It was founded on October 24, 1888 and leased from December 13, 1888 from the Maine Central Railroad , which it finally bought on December 27, 1939.

Their only route was the extension of the Newport Junction – Dexter line, which had been opened in 1868 by the Dexter and Newport Railroad , and led over 14 miles from Dexter to Dover-Foxcroft . The standard gauge line was opened in December 1889. It is now closed and was last used by Guilford Transportation .
