Di Galitzyan Klezmorim

Di Galitzyaner Klezmorim is a Polish klezmer ensemble from Krakow . They play traditional klezmer music with typical instruments, but without singing. The Yiddish name means "The (tavern) players of Galicia ". In addition to old Jewish melodies, they also play their own compositions . In part, they are inspired by Polish compositions.

The music group was founded in 1996 by three music students in Krakow. The following cast has existed since 1998:

  • Mariola Śpiewak - clarinet
  • Grzegorz Śpiewak - accordion
  • Rafał Seweryniak - double bass

They have already received several prizes for their music, such as first prize in the 1st Chopin Open Prize Competition for all instruments except piano in 1999 . In addition to their home country, the group has been heard live in many European countries. They also play regularly in the Kazimierz Jewish district in Kraków.
