Protestant Diakonissenanstalt Speyer-Mannheim-Bad Dürkheim
The Protestant Diakonissenanstalt Speyer-Mannheim-Bad Dürkheim , Kdö.R. (formerly Diakonissen Speyer-Mannheim , until 2008 Diakonissenanstalt Speyer-Mannheim) are an operator of social institutions in the Palatinate.
The forerunners were, on the one hand, the deaconess institution Speyer-Mannheim, which emerged in 2004 from the merger of the Deaconess Institute Speyer, founded in 1859, and the Deaconess Mother House, Mannheim, founded in 1884, and, on the other hand, the Palatinate State Association for Inner Mission eV
Motherhouse and Motherhouse Chapel Speyer
The center of the Deaconesses Speyer-Mannheim is the mother house. It was donated in 1884 by Heinrich Hilgard , school friend of the house chaplain at the time, Karl Anton Scherer , and today serves as the seat of the central administration, as a conference and training center and as the residence of the deaconesses as after-work sisters after their active professional life. The sisters of the former Deaconess Mother House in Mannheim have also lived here since 2007. In the past the house served as a center for the formation of deaconesses. Sick rooms were housed on the first floor near the chapel until the first hospital was inaugurated in 1907.
The traditional motto of the parent company in Speyer is:
"Christ says: Whatever you did to one of these least of my brothers, you did it to me!"
The windows of the mother house chapel in the mother house were designed in 1984 by Hans Gottfried von Stockhausen . They show the life of Jesus and works of mercy from Jesus' parable of the Last Judgment according to Matthew 25: the hungry eat, the thirsty drink, give strangers a shelter, dress the naked, care for the sick, visit prisoners.
Board
