Over 14,000 employees care for more than 700,000 outpatients and inpatients every year and, according to their own statements, look after over 2,400 people in various residential and care offers of the BBT Group.
history
On June 21, 1850, Peter Friedhofen founded the Congregation of the Brothers of Mercy of Maria-Hilf . In addition to the religious vows of obedience, poverty and chastity, the mission of the community to this day lies in the work and care of sick, disabled, old and disadvantaged people. In 1852 Peter Friedhofen began to care for the sick and those in need of care in the Florinspfaffengasse in Koblenz . In 1853 the first brothers came to Trier at the request of the bishop , where they took over their service in the local Demerite asylum. Further foundings followed at home and abroad. On November 10, 1857, Peter Friedhofen received state approval for a “private sick and insane asylum” - the foundation stone of the first hospital in Koblenz's Florinspfaffengasse was laid.
In 1955 the Catholic Nursing Association was founded. V. as the bearer of the institutions of the order in Germany.
In 1993 the name was changed to Barmherzige Brüder Trier e. V. , or BBT e. V. , changed. In 2014 the legal form Barmherzige Brüder Trier gGmbH changed .
