Dialerschutz.de

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dialerschutz.de is a private German website for consumers that deals with protection against some form of internet fraud. It provides information about criminally used dialer programs, which often cause a computer to dial in overpriced Internet access without user intervention.

The site was created at the end of 2001 when numerous computer users in Germany were surprised with initially inexplicable, high telephone bills that could be traced back to dialers.

Dialerschutz.de includes instructions for tracking down dialers on the computer, deleting them and securing evidence in legal disputes. In addition, the website provides information on the problem of dubious value-added service numbers such as 0190, 0900 and 0137 as well as collect calls , mobile phone payment and premium SMS. In cooperation with the website Computerbetrug.de, Dialerschutz.de operates one of the largest German-speaking discussion forums on topics such as online security and dialers.

In November 2007 Dialerschutz.de merged with the consumer protection portal Computerbetrug.de . Since then, both portals have appeared with common content.
