The JugendMedienEvent is an event for young journalists. The event, which has been taking place every year since 1998, offers roundtables, seminars and exchanges with media professionals. The youth media event is organized by the Junge Presse NRW e. V. , in the past also in cooperation with the Essener Jugendpresse e. V., cross media germany e. V. and Young Media Makers Cologne e. V.

2005

565 school newspaper editors met for four days in 2005 and took part in a selection of 140 seminars under the patronage of Ulrich Wickert and Edelgard Bulmahn . They also researched in the European Parliament in Brussels, discussed Europe's future in the plenary chamber and asked questions to the MEPs. On the following days they saw two movie reviews, the youth press party with the band Revolverheld and had the opportunity to establish contact with other committed young people.

2006

In July 2006 over 500 young people came to the ninth edition of the Youth Media Event in Essen and Brussels . a. also 100 young people from other European countries. The program included a visit to the European Parliament in Brussels with roundtables and a panel discussion in the plenary hall.

During the seminar part, which took place at the Essen FOM University of Economics & Management , the participants also took part in writing workshops. The main prize of the “We are Europe” special prize was a three-month internship in the online editorial team of stern.de. The remaining 140 seminars, some in English, dealt with various topics relating to journalism and media work.

The bands AnnA , Shenaniganz (winner of the school jam competition 2006) and Se-Side played at the youth press party .

2007

From August 16 to 19, the Youth Media Event took place for the 10th time. The motto of the anniversary event was “Experience the media live”. As in previous years, 500 young journalists took part. There were editorial visits to the Kölner-Stadt-Anzeiger, the WDR, the Rheinische Post and the Handelsblatt Verlag, among others. There were also discussions in the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia. A total of 140 seminars were also held. The patrons are Finance Minister Peer Steinbrück , TV journalist Ulrich Wickert and EU Parliament President Hans-Gert Pöttering .

2008

The 11th Youth Media Event took place from August 14th to 17th, 2008 in Essen and at ZDF Mainz. It was under the patronage of Kurt Beck , Annette Schavan , Markus Schächter and Thomas Krüger . The JugendMedienEvent u. a. from the Federal Agency for Civic Education.

2009

The youth media event took place for the 12th time from October 8th to 11th, 2009 in Mainz at ZDF . It was under the patronage of Kurt Beck , Annette Schavan , Markus Schächter and Thomas Krüger . The Axel Springer Academy supported this event.
