Diastasis

Diastase (from the Greek διάστασις diastasis "splitting, standing apart") stands for:

  • the standing apart, for example the pelvic bones or the straight abdominal muscles, see diastasis rectus
  • the delimitation / splitting / differentiation of two or more philosophical principles or processes that usually have to do with one another or are assigned to one another, for example in dialectical theology the diastasis between Christ's death on the cross and resurrection
  • In sociology , diastasis denotes a social relationship that is split into two opposing positions
  • the physiologically maximum expansion of the heart muscle as a result of diastole
  • the amylase enzyme, diastase
