Dichagyris imperator is a butterfly ( moth ) from the family of the owl butterflies (Noctuidae).
features
butterfly
The wingspan of the moth is 34 to 50 millimeters. The primary color of the forewings is light ocher. The border area is colored black-brown. Inner and outer transverse lines clearly stand out in black color. The hind wings shimmer whitish in the basal region and merge into gray shades in the fringe area.

Similar species
Dichagyris melanura is smaller, usually lighter in color and shows less distinct transverse lines.
distribution and habitat
Dichagyris imperator occurs in Spain , Israel , Tunisia , Algeria , Libya , Saudi Arabia and Egypt . The species prefers to colonize open areas at altitudes of 400 to 1200 meters.
Way of life
The moths are nocturnal, fly in North Africa in two generations from April to July and in August and September and visit artificial light sources . Zygophyllum species are specified as the food plant of the caterpillars .
