Dichagyris melanura is a butterfly ( moth ) from the family of the owl butterflies (Noctuidae).

The wingspan of the moth is 33 to 36 millimeters. The primary color of the upper forewing is whitish to pale yellowish tones. The border area is colored black-brown. The inner and outer transverse lines are made up of a series of black dots. Four black spots can be seen on the front edge . The upper side of the hind wing shimmers whitish in the basal region and merges into gray shades in the fringe area.

Similar species

distribution and habitat

Dichagyris melanura occurs in the eastern Mediterranean , in Armenia , Russia , Syria , Libya , Iran and Iraq , in Turkey and in the Caucasus . The species prefers to colonize open, warm terrain.

Way of life

The moths are nocturnal, fly between June and August and visit artificial light sources and bait . More lifestyle data remains to be explored.
