The thick exclamation point symbol ( ) is used as a prominent symbol with the exclamation point warning features .

Origin, meaning and application

The coded thick exclamation mark symbol has its origin in Japanese teletext . There it is a traffic sign and means "obstacles on the road". It has been part of Unicode 5.2 since October 1, 2009. Since the form may be determined by a standard, it could not be combined with one of Hermann Zapf's exclamation mark ornaments .

The thick exclamation mark symbol is the hazard pictogram GHS07 of the globally harmonized system for the classification and labeling of chemicals .
