Albert Eduard Toepffer

Albert Eduard Toepffer (born December 11, 1841 in Stettin ; † December 13, 1924 there ) was a German industrialist .

Toepffer came from an entrepreneurial family; his father was the company founder Gustav Adolf Toepffer , his brother the industrialist Richard Toepffer . Toepffer began a commercial apprenticeship in 1858 and attended the higher web school in Chemnitz from 1863/1864 . He was initially an assistant, later managing director of his father's manufactory and fashion retailer. He was particularly interested in international industrial exhibitions. In 1853 he founded the first German coconut mat manufacture, which he later expanded into a factory and then expanded to include a wire weaving mill. From 1871 he was a partner in this factory. After the death of his father in 1883, he also took over the management of his father's cement factory. In 1896 he founded the Comet cement stone factory in Grabow near Stettin. From 1884 to 1891 he was a board member of the Association of German Portland Cement Manufacturers. From 1898 he was a founding member of the German Concrete Association and from 1920 its honorary chairman. From 1908 to 1923 he was chairman of the Szczecin merchants.
