Thick ship

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dickschiff is the slang term for the largest units in a fleet ( battleship , ship of the line , battle cruiser ), and also the five- and four- masters in sailing parades .

"Dickschiff" is also a term from shipbuilding and refers to the relationship between the height and width of the frames of the hull of a ship . "Big ships" are more prone to high waves than other forms of ship. With mostly ironic undertones, sailors differentiate closed keel yachts from dinghies by referring to the former as "thick ships".
