Didier-François d'Arclais de Montamy

Didier-François d'Arclais de Montamy (* 1702 in Montamy , † 1765 in Paris ) was a French civil servant, naturalist and encyclopaedist .

Live and act

He was the son of Jean Joseph, sieur de Montamy d'Arclais, sgr de Montamy and Marie Françoise Guillard de La Madeleine. He was the first grand steward of the royal house , of Louis I de Bourbon, duc d'Orléans , premier maître d'hôtel du duc d'Orléans . D'Arclais de Montamy had a high academic education, but he was also interested in the fine arts (beaux-arts).

He translated from the German language by Johann Heinrich Pott the work Chymic Investigations, created in 1757 , which deal primarily with the Lithogeognosia or Erkäntniss and processing of the common, simpler stones and earth, the same of fire and light .

He wrote the article porcelaine for the Encyclopédie by Denis Diderot and Jean-Baptiste le Rond d'Alembert .

In 1762 he was honored as Chevalier de Saint Lazare de Jérusalem.
