The eagles of Rome (French original title: Les Aigles de Rome ) is a Franco-Belgian comic series by the Italian Enrico Marini , who wrote, drew and colored the comic himself. Five albums have been released since 2007, with the series being designed for six to eight volumes. A German-language publication has been carried out by Carlsen Verlag since 2009 .

The first edition only appeared in softcover volumes, but from 2019 Carlsen published a new bound edition. As is typical for Marini's work, he completely dispensed with computers and graphics programs, drew and colored the entire comic by hand.

The history comic deals with the life of the Germanic prince Arminius and the fictional Roman Marcus Valerius Falco and their friendship plagued by the circumstances, as well as the Varus Battle . According to her own statements, Marini attaches great importance to research and a realistic and credible presentation. The title of the series refers to the three Roman legionary eagles , all of which were lost in the Varus Battle.
