The outside of the element was a loose-leaf literary and graphic collection in a box. It was published from 1995 to 2003 and had eleven issues.

Edited was this literary magazine of the poet and translator Jan Wagner together with thomas girst and a changing editorial team in the non-profit Art Movement, Berlin and sold at cost price.

Twice a year, the loose-leaf collection, produced in offset printing and presented in a box, based on the model of Marcel Duchamp , appeared, which enabled the reader to compose his own order, to arrange the collection according to personal preferences and antipathies. The literature box was a forum for well-known and unknown authors from all over the world, for poetry and prose and for graphic work. For each issue there was a supplement specially created by a visual artist.

Two issues were special issues on contemporary Persian and Dutch poetry.
