Die Geier is a Franco-Belgian comic created by Glem and Raoul Cauvin and first appeared in 1986 in number 2491 of the comic magazine Spirou . It shows a number of vultures in their daily life. In Germany, the comic appeared in issues 1017, 1019, 1020, 1023, 1026 and 1028 of the comic magazine Yps .

The theme of the series is vultures. It follows the life of a flock of vultures who philosophize about existence and, above all, wait for death to strike in order to strike down on the remains of animals that other predators have killed in the savannah .

characters

The main characters are the vultures Melchior and Balthasar. The first is an intellectual traditionalist while the second is crazier. They are accompanied by Mimile, a vulture whose only aim is to get its next meal, Balthazar's wife, who is an owl , and Yvo, her son, who is half an owl and half a vulture.

That year the series was published 37 times as a comic strip and twice as a complete story with six comic strips, and one story also makes it onto the cover of number 2538. The following year it was published 26 times as a comic strip, twice as a complete story two comic series, twice with three comic series and twice with four comic series. In the course of 1988 the comic strip was published 29 times and once as a complete story with four comic series, whereby it again made a story on the cover picture. The following year, it was published 25 times as a comic strip. In 1990 she appeared 36 times as a comic strip and the whole story appears twice in two comic series, twice in three comic series and once in four comic series. The following year it was published 46 times, once as a complete story across two comic series and once as a complete story across four comic series. Les Voraces et les coriaces

In 1988 a series of comics appeared under the title Les Voraces et les coriaces . The first edition took place in number 2618. In the same year twelve more came out. The following year there were 26 stories, 37 in 1990, 31 in 1991, 17 in 1992, 28 in 1993, 23 in 1994, and then only twice a year.

Albums

The first album in the series was released by Dupuis in 1989 and is called Les voraces se décarcassent . In the same year the second album, Les yeux dans les œufs, hit the market. The following year the third album was released under the title Les voraces dans la mélasse and the following year the fourth album, Les voraces éboueurs du ciel, was released . The publisher released the fifth and final album in 1994 under the title Les voraces volent au vent .
