The cozy ones

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Die Gemüthlichen is a waltz by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 70). The work was performed for the first time on January 13, 1850 in the Zum Sperl dance hall .

Remarks

The waltz was dedicated to the regular guests of the Sperl and should actually be called Echte Sperianer . It was also premiered under this title. It was only later in the print version that it was given the name Die Gemüthlichen . With this, Johann Strauss (son) also wanted to win over the visitors of the Sperl, who had previously stood behind his father, who had since died , and who saw the younger Strauss as the reason for the quarrels between father and son. Cleverly, the junior made use of his father's style, in which he made the waltz very popular and cozy. Success proved him right. The work was well received, and gradually the young Strauss was recognized as a worthy successor to his father. The waltz Die Gemüthlichen is still occasionally performed at concerts today.

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 6 minutes and 51 seconds. Depending on the musical conception of the conductor, this time can change by up to a minute plus or minus.
