Karl-Heinrich Ostmeyer

Karl-Heinrich Ostmeyer (* 1967 in Paderborn ) is a German Protestant theologian and professor of the New Testament at the Technical University of Dortmund . His research focuses on biblical theology and contemporary history of the New Testament , including studies on Galilee and ancient Jewish prayers.

Life

Karl-Heinrich Ostmeyer studied Protestant theology , philosophy and Jewish studies at the University of Tübingen , the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the Humboldt University of Berlin from 1989 to 1995 , where he did a doctoral thesis on baptism and types in 1999 . Elements and theology of the typologies of baptism in 1 Corinthians 10 and 1 Peter 3 was promoted .

He then completed his habilitation in July 2003 at the Theological Faculty of the University of Leipzig with the thesis Communication with God and Christ. Language and theology of prayer in the New Testament . 2003-2005 he was an assistant at the University of Marburg in Frederick Avemarie (1960-2012). 2007–2008 he was a temporary professor at the Ben Gurion University of the Negev , Beer Sheva , Israel . 2008-2015 he was pastor of the evangelical parish Bronnzell - Eichenzell near Fulda .

In April 2016 he took over the representation of the professorship for Protestant theology and its didactics with a focus on the New Testament at the Technical University of Dortmund in the Faculty of Human Sciences and Theology. In August 2016 he was appointed university professor. Since 2018 he has been director of the Institute for Protestant Theology at the Technical University of Dortmund .

Karl-Heinrich Ostmeyer is a member of the Studiorum Novi Testamenti Societas (SNTS) and the Scientific Society for Theology (WGTh).
