Die Hausfrau was an Austrian women's magazine that was published in Vienna between 1877 and 1884 .

The sample number of the magazine appeared on September 8, 1877, the first regular edition on September 22, 1877. Until April 1878, "Die Hausfrau" appeared every Saturday, then only three times a month. The magazine in the 2 ° format initially consisted of twelve pages, but in 1878 it was reduced to eight pages and from 1880 to six pages. The additional title of the magazine was initially Blätter für Haus und Wirtschaft , whereby the magazine with the "fictional supplement" was Der Damen-Salon. Organ for all women's interests appeared. The supplement to the “women's salon” was published until September 1878, and from 1879 to 1880 the housewife was also given the general bathing sheet for women .

With the issue on May 11, 1878, the title The Housewife. Sheets for house and business and the addition of organ for the interests of the members of the First Viennese Consum Association and for the general interests of women were introduced. From September 20, 1878, the first addition was expanded, so that the magazine as Die Hausfrau. Leaves for home and business, entertainment and fashion appeared. The last title change was in April 1879. The original addition was completely deleted and the magazine was subsequently published as Die Hausfrau. The magazine was initially edited and published by S. Popper until January 1878, after which Julius Popper appeared as editor and publisher. Victor Léon acted as editor until August 30, 1878, between September 1877 and March 1879 Johann Ponschab was the responsible editor, between April 1879 and December 1884 H. Gallos took over this role. The magazine was printed by the cooperative book printing company. The last edition of Hausfrau appeared in December 1884, after which Die Hausfrau was included in the Illustrirten Hausfrauen-Zeitung .
