The HolidayChecker was a TV series from Sat.1 Switzerland. In the TV travel magazine, the two presenters Tanja Gutmann and Nina Heinemann checked holiday offers around the world.

The first season, which was broadcast from January 2012, reached a total of over a million viewers and was thus able to achieve a market share of up to 7%, which is above average for Sat.1 Switzerland.

Structure and themes

The TV series focused on holiday offers, holiday experiences and adventures that could be realized with an average travel budget. According to the broadcaster, luxury hotels and expensive extravagances were more of an exception. In the 10 episodes of the first season, the two presenters u. a. Gran Canaria , Egypt , Thailand , the Dominican Republic and Mauritius traveled, for the second season also travel destinations in the USA and Africa were planned and the proportion of adventure checks was increased. Trend sports such as paragliding , wakeboarding and blokarte were also tested by the two moderators.

Episodes and broadcast dates

The first season was produced from November 2011 to the end of February 2012 and aired from January 2012. The second season was produced from March to August 2012 and aired from July to September.

Background information

Gutmann and Heinemann and three camera teams were on site at each destination. At the same time as the TV shooting, additional web content was recorded on site that was only accessible on the program's website.
