The Koala Brothers is a British - Australian stop motion animated children's television program. The subject of the plot are the adventures of the two koalas Frank and Buster, who in each episode are confronted with the problems of their neighbors in a sleepy town in the Australian outback and strive to find a solution. One notable quality of the series is that while there is occasional disagreement and anti-social or thoughtless behavior, there are no villains or unpleasant characters. Rather, the focus is on supporting good friends.

Characters

  • Frank the Koala is the pilot of the plane. He has shown excellent skills in tennis and was even the only member of the community able to defeat Archie, although he admitted it was just luck. It also encourages an interest in ceramics.
  • Buster the Koala sits behind Frank on her plane and uses his telescope to spot friends in need from the air. He is always ready for a few words of encouragement or a hug to comfort his friends. Buster loves to bake, especially shortbread biscuits. The extraordinary thing about Buster is that he wears a wool collar in the hot desert.
  • Ned the wombat is apparently the youngest member of the local community and lives in a trailer. He is often unsure, but he dreams of adventures as a researcher or a sea captain. He is very determined and always fixated on one idea. Every time the plane takes off, he acts as an air traffic controller and directs it out of the courtyard entrance with table tennis bats. A running gag here is that the letterbox at the gate is alwaysrammedby the horizontal stabilizer of the aircraft and brought down.
  • Mitzi the Possum wears sandals and thick-rimmed glasses. She is the neighbor of the koalas and a character who is very cheeky in contrast to the koala brothers, because she wants to eliminate all problems at once.
  • Archie the crocodile lives in a well-equipped holiday home near the waterhole. He is the sportiest of the group and comes from England.
  • George the turtle is the local postman. He has no known place of residence but can usually be found at the post office. He claims he would be proud todeliverthe mail with his trusty leather bag . He also has an interest in stamp collecting.
  • Alice the platypus is the owner of the café and the most forgetful of all characters. She drives a green scooter and loves to bake. She is also a regular customer of Sammy the Echidna.
  • Sammy the Echidna lives in town and owns the local supermarket. He sells fuel, food, and more. His only employee is Josie. Of all characters, he has the fewest problems.
  • Josie the kangaroo works in the supermarket and is Mitzi's best friend. She is the master of jumping rope and has the fewest problems after her boss Sammy.
  • Penny the Penguin is an explorer from Antarctica who occasionally visits the Australian outback and also carries out regular correspondence with the koala brothers. She cannot speak but is able to make squeaky sounds.
  • Lolly the Emu is the local ice cream seller who always appears in combination with her ice cream truck.
