The Legend of the Guardians - original title "Guardians of Ga'Hoole" - is the title of a sixteen-volume fantasy book series for children by the American writer Kathryn Lasky .

The stories take place in an imaginary realm of owls, in which the young protagonists heroically solve all kinds of tasks and fight battles. The center of the owl universe is the "Tree of Ga'Hoole" (The Great Ga'Hoole Tree), the great goal of the youthful heroes is to become one of these mythical and highly revered "Guardians of Ga'Hoole" themselves. The cycle is supplemented by the three volumes Lost Tales of Ga'Hoole , in which an old owl tells the myths and legends of the owl kingdom, as well as the volume Guide Book to the Great Tree , a kind of overview of the history, laws and spiritual ideas of the Great Ga'Hoole tree. The Rise of a Legend is a book written by the character Ezylryb, in which the history of the book series is described. The novel cycle The Legend of the Guardians is part of a series of several chronological novel series. The Legends of Ga'Hoole are part of the novel cycle The Legend of the Guardians and consist of volumes 9-10-11.
