Die Legende vom Krabat is an opera by Peter Lund (text) and Winfried Radeke (music), which is based on the oral and written Sorbian saga of Krabat and was premiered in 1997 at the Neukölln Opera .
action
The legend of the Krabat tells the story of an ambitious young miller boy. His apprenticeship years in the black magic mill, his participation in the Turkish wars, in which he achieved fame and glory, and his time at the electoral Saxon court of Augustus the Strong are described .
Structure of the piece
Because the opera lasts over four hours, the Neukölln Opera decided to split it into two parts that could take place on different days. The first evening was called The Red Lady , the second evening was called King and Fool .
premiere
The first part Die Rote Dame was premiered on November 18, 1997 at the Neukölln Opera , the second part King and Fool on November 26, 1997.
