The Missouris

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Missouris were a German Schlager duo, consisting of the singers Michael Holm and Albert Schützenberger (Bert Berger and Boy Berger ).

The duo was founded in 1961 when the two applied to the first German Schlager Festival in Baden-Baden . Although they only took second place with their title Texas-Jimmy behind the instrumental title Bailando a dos by the Alfred home orchestra , the duo became known overnight and was temporarily able to hold onto the pop market. The duo was initially produced by Mal Sondock . In 1962, the Missouris were also in front of the camera. You played in the film "Schlager-Revue 1962".

In 1962 Wolf Kabitzky took over the production of the duo, but it wasn't until the spring of 1963 that they had their next hit, Der King , a cover version of an Elvis Presley title. Another attempt to produce a hit failed, so that the duo separated in late 1963.

Michael Holm was later successful as a soloist and producer. First, however, he founded a new duo with Joachim Heider , "Mike and Joe". Boy Berger also tried to continue his solo career, which he had started in 1959, but could not assert himself.
