action
When Kasperl goes back to the tavern with his new friend, the hunter Thomerl, he lets Thomerl persuade him to check his wife Grethl's loyalty by pretending to be dead. Shortly afterwards, Kasperl comes home with alleged stomach pain. While he lies down in bed, Grethl fetches a doctor, who, however, is Thomerl in disguise. This claims that Kasperl suffer from inflammatio trommula ventriculosa or "abdominal eardrum". Even though he pours him medicine (in reality it's just beer), Kasperl "dies". The alleged doctor leaves. Grethl regrets the death of her husband, but is not ready to go on living as a widow. When she seeks consolation from Lieutenant Pulvermann, who is in love with her, and he proposes, Kasperl jumps out of bed and pounces on her. He kills Pulvermann and is about to beat Grethl when a policeman comes in who has heard the noise. Since he feels disturbed by this, Kasperl hits the policeman, whereupon he hits back. Then Grethl hits him again. Together, Kasperl and Grethl beat the officer until he escapes. Then the couple reconciled again and decided to celebrate with friends (including Thomerl).
