The Prophecies of Celestine (Novel)

The Prophecies of Celestine is a 1993 novel by James Redfield . The book is about the fact that, for half a century now, a new consciousness has gradually entered our world, which can only be described with the words transcendental and spiritual.

By May 2005, over 20 million copies had been sold worldwide. The author sold the first 10,000 out of the trunk of his car until the publisher Time Warner accepted the book. The book has been translated into 34 languages. The film of the same name , based on the book, was released in 2006.

Emergence

Redfield began writing his first book in 1989. But the publication time of two years, which requires publication by an established publisher, seemed too long to him. In 1993, he published The Prophecies of Celestine as a paperback in his own production and distributed it to selected, alternative bookstores. It became a success, largely through word of mouth, and more and more reorders were received from James Redfield and his wife, Salle Merrill Redfield.

In 1994 Warner Books secured the rights to publish The Celestine Prophecies as a hardcover book.

  • 1. Knowledge - A critical mass
By exceeding the critical number of individuals who understand their life path as the unfolding of a spiritual process, the awakening of a new spiritual consciousness is brought about - we set off on a journey on which we are guided by mysterious fortunes.

This departure represents the creation of a new, more complete worldview than the 500 year old school of preoccupation with earthly struggle for survival and material comfort was able to deliver. Although studying the technological aspects of our human existence was an important step in our evolution, realizing the momentous coincidences in our life will open our perception to the real reason for our presence on this planet and reveal to us the true nature of the universe .
  • 3. Knowledge - A question of energy
We are currently realizing that we do not inhabit a materially stable universe, but rather live in a large field of constantly changing, dynamic energies. Everything around us consists of energy fields that humans are able to experience intuitively. We also have the ability to project our energy in any desired direction through concentration, in order to influence our energy systems mutually and to increase the number of positive "coincidences" in our life.
  • 4. Knowledge - The struggle for power
Too often people cut themselves off from the great source of this energy and feel weak and insecure as a result. In order to gain energy, we force others to give us attention and thus give us energy. If we succeed in dominating others in this way, we feel stronger. The competition for human energy is the cause of all interpersonal conflicts.
  • 5. Knowledge - The message of the mystics
Insecurity and violence end as soon as we feel an inner connection with the spiritual energy, a connection that has been described by the mystics of all schools. One of the measures of the existence of this connection is a feeling of lightheartedness and joy in action, as well as a constant feeling of love. When these signs are given, the connection with the energy is real; if they are not, it is simply an assumed connection.
  • 6. Knowledge - The clarification of the past
The longer we manage to maintain this connection, the more we become aware of when it is broken again, which is usually the case when stress enters our lives. This is an opportunity to clearly see how we steal energy from others. Once we become aware of our manipulative behavior, our connection with the spiritual energy is also strengthened and we are able to recognize our path of inner growth and the spiritual task imposed on us, through which we accept for the benefit of ours Contribute to the world.

  • 9. Realization - The emergence of a culture
As each of us strives towards the completion of our spiritual mission, the technological aspects of our survival will become fully automated so that we can fully focus on our synchronous growth. This growth will transport humanity into ever higher energetic stages until our bodies finally adopt a pure form of energy and we connect the current dimension of our existence with that after life and thereby end the cycle of death and birth.

Success and continuation

In 1995 and 1996, The Celestine Prophecies ranked number one on the world's best-seller list of American books. The book remained on the New York Times bestseller list for three years

Building on the success, James Redfield continued the series with the novel The Tenth Prophecy of Celestine , which reached second place on the New York Times bestseller list in 1996.

It followed in 2001, The Secret of Shambhala: The Third Book of Celestine .

The fourth book in the series The Twelfth Prophecy of Celestine: Beyond 2012 was published in March 2011 .

criticism

Redfield stated that the work of the founder of transactional analysis , Eric Berne , and his book Games of the Adults , a 1964 bestseller, had a significant impact on his work. In particular, the life games to which Berne refers in his book are used as tools for the individual task of energetic independence.
