Die Schnäppchenhäuser - The dream of owning a home is a German-language documentary soap on the TV channel RTL II that has been broadcast since 2010.

concept

The television team accompanies people who want to realize their dream of owning a home with little money and a lot of optimism . Problems often arise here, as the cheaply acquired properties are mostly old buildings in need of renovation. The program shows how people realize their plan and make the houses habitable again with a lot of their own work. The concept is very different from that of the previous program Our new home on the mother station RTL .

reception

The websitequotemeter.de gave it a rating of 50% and noted that it was quite amusing to "watch overwhelmed amateurs doing the rough renovation of an uninhabitable ruin". However, the program does not reach a level that goes beyond “voyeuristic gazing and a string of banalities around trowels, joint seals and the wrecking ball, which is urgently recommended in one or the other case”.
